Portraits & Pixels: A Nomadic Journey
Hi, TIARÉ here!
Hey there! I'm Tiaré Truss, your Estonian girl next door for copywriting, graphic design, and creative work. It's been a wild ride—projects, late nights, and lots of learning—but I’ve loved every minute. I’m all in: passionate, practical, and always up for a challenge.
My Story Begins in a Land of Books
I was one of those kids who got utterly lost in books. Harry Potter? Obsessed. But more than the magic, I loved the storytelling. I even built a Harry Potter RPG forum—an online world where fans could write their adventures. That’s when it clicked: I’m meant for storytelling, design, and the digital world. You know how they say your childhood hobbies hint at your calling? That was true for me.
From Backpacking Dreams to a Laptop Life
In high school, school and I weren’t exactly besties. I dreamed of exploring Asia with a backpack and no plan. But life nudged me toward the Baltic Film and Media School. It turned out to be a great move. I studied Integrated Art & Multimedia, graduated in 2021, and realized I could still live my travel dream with a laptop instead of a backpack. Wi-Fi became my passport.
How I Fell Into Marketing
Picture this: I’m 19, making coffee as a barista when a local restaurant owner—who ran the coolest spots in town, Manna La Roosa and Tai Boh, told me I should waitress for him instead. One coffee chat later, I was not just waitressing but also running their social media. I had dabbled in Instagram before, posting cute latte shots, but suddenly, I was managing authentic brands.
One year in, I juggled marketing for four restaurants while still studying. I had no formal training—just curiosity and grit. Later, I joined a social media agency, where I spent three years sharpening my skills, working with teams, and building campaigns across industries. It was fast-paced, messy, and precisely what I needed.
Designing My Way
My design journey started in Paint on our old family computer. At university, it leveled up. I saw design as more than pretty pictures—how ideas connected with people. I aim to create work that feels just right. That’s always the goal: not flashy, just honest and resonant.
Going Freelance
In 2021, COVID-19 hit restaurants hard. I moved to a marketing agency called Goal and stepped into project management. It taught me a ton—fast turnarounds, big clients like National Geographic, Jura, and Blendtec, and the rhythm of agency life.
At the same time, friends and others started asking me for help with their businesses. Side gigs became steady work, so I officially launched my business in 2022. At first, I freelanced, but by the spring of 2024, I jumped into full-time. It wasn’t just about work. It was about freedom—the freedom to create, choose my projects, and work from anywhere.
The Nomad Life Chose Me
In 2022, I packed my backpack, grabbed my boxing gloves, and flew to Koh Phangan, Thailand, to train Muay Thai with my best friend. One month turned into five. Then I went to Singapore and Bali, where everything changed. I stayed two months, met my partner, and realized Bali felt like home.
Now it’s 2025, and I split my time—seven months in Bali and five in Estonia. I love both. But I still crave new places and plan to live elsewhere from time to time.
Nomad life is chaotic and beautiful. I’ve found clients in random places (like a bikini shop in Singapore), trained Krav Maga in Thailand, and lost both my phone and laptop on the road. Still, I wouldn’t trade it. This lifestyle teaches you to adapt, connect, and see the world with fresh eyes.
Let’s Make Magic
So here I am—with stories, skills, and a love for making things that matter. I'm your person if you need words, visuals, or creative direction. Let’s bring your vision to life—and who knows, maybe spark something bigger along the way.
